Secret Bay, is a secluded Caribbean eco-luxury boutique hotel and Dominica’s only five-star resort.
One year ago, Hurricane Maria made landfall on Dominica, the “Nature Island,” and Secret Bay ownership has been tirelessly working to thoughtfully restore and enhance the beloved resort. The seven-year-old hotel will welcome back guests on November 1, 2018 with updated villas, one new villa and a host of new amenities to create an even more romantic experience:
- Six villas: Zabuco I, II & III and Ylang Ylang I & II are being thoughtfully restored to reflect their original designs and optimized for a truly luxury experience. Each freestanding villa has its own private plunge pool.A new, two-story Ti-Féy Villa I is a nature-meets-luxury architectural masterpiece perched high atop the resort’s cliffside. Sustainably-built with Guyanese Greenheart hardwood, the 1,356-square-foot retreat boasts one bedroom and two bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, floor-to-ceiling glass doors, outdoor rain shower, private plunge pool and a rolodex of modern amenities.
- An onsite restaurant: A new addition to the property, the resort will feature a centrally-located, sit-down restaurant offering seasonal, locally-sourced fare, jaw-dropping views and a display kitchen. The restaurant, Zing Zing, will not have a menu; rather, the chef will prepare seasonal dishes based on patrons’ preferences. The hotel will continue its trademark private, in-villa dining and personalised pre-stocking services.
- Wellness center: A newly constructed yoga, spa and wellness pavilion will serve as a riverside destination for intimate wellness classes and luxurious spa services. The Gommier Spa will include a private treehouse-style couple’s massage room, while the Bwa Mang Wellness Pavilion will be suspended over the magical Cario river.
Secret Bay began as a love story: As a wedding gift to Gregor and Sandra, Gregor’s father-in-law, Fruto Vivas (an award-winning Latin American architect), created architectural plans for the boutique resort’s original honeymoon villa. Just as each villa was originally built with profound love, care and thoughtfulness, Secret Bay’s revived villas and new amenities are being constructed with equal dedication. The secluded and intimate resort carries on the same commitment to its guests as it always has — being the ultimate couples hideaway, whether celebrating an anniversary, wedding, honeymoon or simply time together away from daily life.
Nightly rates at Secret Bay start at $705 USD. The resort is offering a “Re-Opening” package, which includes one complimentary night on a stay of five or more nights, plus complimentary Organic Breakfast Basket, filled with: farm fresh eggs, organic fruit, homemade granola, yogurt, bread, jam, dried fruit, and local lemongrass and cocoa teas, and replenished for the duration of the stay.
