SantAnna, Mykonos: A Luxury Beach Resort Debuts with Largest Pool in Europe

SantAnna aerial

Offering a transportive approach to understated luxury, SantAnna reinvents cool in the heart of this Cycladic haven. Debuting on June 26, 2017, the multi-experiential beachfront retreat is poised to become one of the most sought-after destinations in the Mediterranean. The SantAnna ethos is based on an unpretentious island attitude organically blending with a chic international sensibility. Despite the convergence of global brands on Mykonos, the island has remained an authentic portal into local lifestyle and culture. Entrepreneur Dimitris Christoforidis, genius visionary behind the acclaimed Nice n Easy Restaurant Group, along with Chef and partner Christos Athanasiadis and a group of influential investors, infuse their first-class approach to hospitality at this more than multi-million dollar project.

SantAnna is situated in the enviable location of Paranga Beach on the southern coast of the island, keeping it well protected from Mykonos’s legendary gusty winds. The over 100,000 square-foot complex will house the largest saltwater swimming pool in Europe at 22,600 square-feet with 222,000 gallons of water, two beachfront restaurants, multiple top-shelf bars, 57,000 square feet, full-service poolside area and 28,000 square-feet of beachside lounges and cabanas, bespoke retail boutiques, customized spa services and a salon, a gym, 4,000 square-feet of subterranean guest facilities including exclusive “VIP Islands” that feature connecting underground private lounge areas for guests to change, relax or enjoy a replenishing spa treatment.

“Mykonos is known the world over as a vibrant summer destination among jetsetters and discerning travelers, but we found a need to cater to a more diverse and inclusive clientele,” says Dimitris Christoforidis. ”We want to offer an equally lively atmosphere but in a more laid back, chic environment, not only for revelers, but families, groups and single guests alike. SantAnna aims to redefine Mykonos as a destination beyond its posh party reputation.”

SantAnna was designed by ASPA S.A, Greece’s most celebrated and accomplished architecture firm, and engineered and built by the genius team behind Liberty Construction and Development. The property’s stylish equilibrium of contemporary luxury balanced by a minimalistic approach reflects the intrinsic grace of the natural surrounds.  SantAnna also pays homage to its Greek origins, featuring custom-made textiles and indigenous materials such as stone naturally found in the Cycladic Islands. Surrounded by the Aegean Sea, the layout and accommodations take advantage of expansive cerulean blue views accented by a luxurious oversized swimming pool. Intimate lounge areas and cabanas provide privacy and respite while strategically placed design details, creative landscaping and shaded areas add character and dimension to the property.

The Restaurants:

Given the group’s celebrity DNA for creating organic, bespoke culinary experiences, Chef Christos Athanasiadis designs seasonal food and beverage menus that deliver far beyond the expected Mediterranean fare. In keeping with Nice n Easy’s signature establishments, each menu details locally sourced ingredients, nutritional value and vegan, vegetarian or gluten/dairy free options.

The 300 capacity restaurant serving upscale, artisanal a la carte Greek cuisine takes center stage and features a custom tailored selection of international and Greek wines, champagnes and a full range of specialty house-made elixirs. Enjoy regional and international seafood, including grilled lobster and famous grilled whole fish, as well as savory meat offerings and a wide variety of innovative, locally inspired dishes. The restaurant’s invitingly curved design – ‘kiklos’ translates to ‘round’ in Greek – alludes to the shape of the Cycladic islands while the atmosphere is cozy and luxurious with expansive, awe-inspiring views.

A 150 capacity Sushi and Raw Bar will feature inventive combinations of Asian delicacies highlighting fresh local seafood to be paired with a top-shelf sake list. A specially designed Beach Menu boasts tasty all-day snack plates, made-to-order sandwiches, freshly prepared sushi bento boxes and a juice bar with a wide selection of healthy “super food” options. Three bars holding up to 150 guests will serve an extensive craft cocktail menu with classic aperitifs in an elegant, sea-facing setting.

Entertainment:

Music and entertainment are central to the SantAnna experience. Guest may enjoy low-key ambient selections playing throughout the morning and daytime then easing into a more up-tempo atmosphere as the evening warms up. SantAnna will host an all-star lineup of local and international DJs as well as soon-to-be-announced top-tier international music acts. The space is primed to be Mykonos’s next most coveted go-to music destination.

Retail:

SantAnna’s own bespoke boutique features collections by contemporary Greek designers including Orsalia Parthenisis who is lending her sophisticated minimalism to the design of the uniforms, while showcasing her own widely sough-after line. Greece’s most celebrated milliner, Katerina Karoussos, will have her hat wear collection available and IIias Lalaounis’s iconic handmade jewelry in unique gold designs inspired by ancient and modern references will also be showcased.  Valia Gabriel’s exclusive hand made leather sandals and her collector’s edition beachwear line, will be one of the boutique’s highlights. Other brands to be featured include Sophia Kokosalaki’s line of high-end women’s apparel and jewelry.

American investor and tech start-up guru John Roa will debut his contemporary Mediterranean-meets-California luxury swimwear and lifestyle collection for the first time in Mykonos.  His SunLust boutique will be a destination point for gorgeous, one-of-a-kind designer swim and resort wear. Selections from Mykonos’s own Ergon boutique will be available, blending accents of Greek history – referencing the amphora as its symbol – offering artistically interpreted and a refreshingly modern take on lifestyle pieces.
