In collaboration with the House of Krug, Shangri-La Hotel, Paris launches “Le Bar à ciel ouvert by Krug.” Located in one of Shangri-La Hotel, Paris’ most beautiful rooms, which has been fully redesigned for the occasion, “Le Bar à ciel ouvert by Krug” is set on a magnificent 30-square-meter (about 323-square-foot) terrace with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower and beyond. From July 1 to August 26, 2017, guests are welcome to lounge on the terrace and enjoy a glass of Krug Champagne while taking in city views.
Iconic Krug Champagne vintages will be accompanied by a choice of appetizers including caviar, salmon and Bellota ham. During the Parisian summer months, guests can enjoy the setting sun and a view of the Eiffel Tower as sparkling as the glass of Krug in hand.
“Le Bar à ciel ouvert by Krug” will be open nightly from July 1 to August 26, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The terrace can seat 16 guests and can seat 14 guests indoors. Guests can make reservations starting June 15, 2017, by calling +33 (0)1 53 67 19 98.
Price per glass of Krug Grande Cuvée (excluding appetizers) is €55 (about USD62). Price per bottle of Krug Grande Cuvée (excluding appetizers) is €400, €650 (about USD729) for a bottle Krug Vintage 2002, and €800 (about USD897) for a bottle of Krug Rosé.
Guests can make special reservations to celebrate Bastille Day and watch festive fireworks perched from “Le Bar à ciel ouvert by Krug.” Price per guest is €350 (about USD393), including a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée.
For the summer season, Shangri-La Hotel, Paris announces the reopening of La 8 Iéna with a vegetable-focused menu created by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Christophe Moret. Located on the hotel’s verdant patio, La 8 Iéna will welcome Parisians and visitors seeking a moment of secluded relaxation while enjoying sweet and savory bites during the summer months.
Throughout the season, guests can enjoy Executive Chef Christophe Moret’s “100 percent green menu,” which features the best and freshest ingredients served in a refined Parisian style. The menu offers flavorful dishes including: Iced Pea Velouté with mint marshmallows; “Riviera” Fougasse garnished with poivrade artichokes, purple artichokes and black olives, served with a baby broad bean salad with diced cucumber, fresh tomatoes, avocado, coriander, parsley and arugula; and Riso La Renata served with pan-fried cherry tomatoes, citron and red onions.
Guests with a sweet tooth can cool down with house-made vegan ice cream and sorbets. Other delicious desserts created by Pastry Chef Michaël Bartocetti are on offer, such as: Jasmine Pavlova with citrus meringue, jasmine tea scented cream and strawberry granité; and Coconut and Vanilla Rice Pudding. Guests can also enjoy the 100% Vegan Afternoon Tea with exclusive summer creations.
To accompany the delicious treats, Head Sommelier Matthias Meynard has chosen wines made through biodynamic methods. Unroasted, hand-picked, and fair-trade chocolates, coffees and teas are also on offer, as well as organic juices, homemade iced tea, gluten-free beer, and the hotel’s famous “Chi drinks.” Available in three different flavors, the innovative “Chi drinks” back for their third season are inspired by the Chinese philosophy of “Chi” that promotes a harmonious body and spirit.
Fresh and bold cocktails made by Head Barman Clément Emery complete the green experience. The cocktails are made with fresh and unique plant-based ingredients to pay tribute to the property’s former owner Prince Roland Bonaparte and his passion for botany.
