W Las Vegas has announced the launch of AWAY Spa, the latest spa concept from W Hotels, featuring an innovative array of spa and salon services to heighten the senses and rejuvenate the mind and body. AWAY Spa at W Las Vegas was developed under the leadership of Spa Director Shane Upson, whose larger-than-life personality is reflected in all elements of the spa, from the invigorating design to the glamorous and inventive treatments.
Upon first entering AWAY Spa’s lobby, guests are treated to instant sensory stimulation through the bold use of bright pink lighting and accent walls, enhanced by energizing ambient music. Moving into the treatment rooms, invigorating green accents are paired with adjustable LED lighting that allows guests to choose between sensual green or soothing white, while each room also offers two music playlists – one designed to ignite and one to relax. The spa’s sumptuous lounge, designed for chilling out before or after treatments, allows guests to detox or retox, with complimentary snacks and beverages that include Nespresso shots, pineapple-and-mint-infused water, green apples, vegan pate de fruit, gluten-free mini muffin selection, and sinful bakery treats.
In addition to influencing the concept and design, Upson masterfully guided the development of the spa’s innovative treatment menu, selecting the skincare and haircare product lines, and ensuring that each guest touchpoint lives up to his ideal of what the ultimate spa experience should be. Upson crafted the signature spa treatments with the Vegas guests’ specific needs in mind – whether they’re overworked, under-slept or partied out. Some of the treatments custom-designed for AWAY Spa at W Las Vegas include the Vegas Vegan facial; Stoned hot stone massage; Vegas Baby hydration facial; Man Up men’s facial; and the ultimate in pampering experiences, the Massage a Trois, which includes a bath soak, hydrating body wrap, scalp massage and full body massage.

AWAY Spa at W Las Vegas features ten treatment rooms, a full-service salon, a communal relaxation lounge, plus locker rooms with steam rooms and oversized experience showers.
Upson joined AWAY Spa at W Las Vegas after working with Bliss spas for three years at the W South Beach Miami and the W West Beverly Hills. While at Bliss, he was selected to join a task force made up of three spa directors who helped create innovative ideas, retail programs, marketing concepts and training programs to be launched across the brand. Prior to that, he served as spa director at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City. Upson entered the spa industry following an illustrious career as a celebrity makeup artist as well as an executive in the fashion and cosmetics worlds.
W Las Vegas, a 289-room tower within the SLS Las Vegas, is currently accepting reservations.
