From the Swinging Sixities to Modern Morocco: 50 Years of Hospitality and Pop Culture

Es Saadi Marrakech Resort pool

The Rolling Stones in the pool, Leo DiCaprio at the bar, Winston Churchill smoking cigars in the garden, Josephine Baker singing in the lounge and Kate Moss sprawled out in the hammam, – this year Es Saadi Marrakech Resort is celebrating more than half a century of hosting pop culture icons and luxury seekers from around the world. Please see below for more information on this legendary hotel’s rich history and latest anniversary offerings

Having established itself as Morocco’s first and only casino in 1952, Es Saadi Marrakech Resort has since become Marrakech’s most legendary resort. To celebrate half a century of playing host to some of pop culture’s leading icons and luxury seekers Es Saadi has launched a special offering, encompassing the best of the resort’s culinary and wellness offerings.

Es Saadi Marrakech Resort was created in 1966 by Jean Bauchet, one time owner of Paris’ Moulin Rouge. Inspired by the glamour and allure of the decade, Jean Bauchet designed Es Saadi as a cultural heaven, soon becoming Hollywood’s ideal holiday hangout. Winston Churchill would smoke cigars in the library, and the Rolling Stones would occupy an entire floor. You could go to the pool and find award winning photographer Cecil Beaton shooting the Rolling Stones’ latest album cover, which today is framed and hung on Es Saadi’s walls. Still owned and run by the Bauchet-Bouhal family, Es Saadi has never lost this Hollywood appeal; later hosting celebrities like Kate Moss and Leonardo DiCaprio and acting as film set to the TV hit, The Night Manager.

Amongst the many factors which have attributed to Es Saadi’s 50 years of success, the resort’s incorporation and continual development of its wellness offerings and culinary expertise has set it apart from the rest. Home to the only Dior Institut outside of Paris, winner of the Best Luxury Resort Spa of Morocco at the 2016 World Luxury Spa Awards, with a world-class destination restaurant, ‘La Cour de Lions’ head by seminal Chef Fatéma Hal, Es Saadi offers a stunning escape in the heart of Marrakech. The brand new Spa Suite features a Moroccan Hamman, hydro massage bath for two, two massage tables and a private changing room. After your treatment relax on the king-size waterbed by the open fireplace, whilst sipping on herbal infusions and tea freshly cut from the garden.

Es Saadi’s special anniversary offerings encapsulate the true essence of the resort.
